Hi,
I am currently evaluating an FM solution. I am also in the process of
upgrading my AutoCAD 2002 licence.
The 2 runner ups for FM are Archibus/FM and Géomap FM. Archibus does not
require MAP but Géomap does.
The difference in price to upgrade to AutoCAD 2006 or Autodesk MAP 3D 2006
is about CAN 300$.
Saying that we will chose Archibus, do you think it is still a good idea to
upgrade to MAP or not?
On another note, what are your impressions of Archibus?
Yours Truly,
David Shabat

David,
I don't have an fm program like archibus or anything right now, as I know it will be awhile before I have the staffing necessary to implement any type of FM program.
I was just wondering if you had a chance to look through the posts in this forum about MAP as an FM tool, and whether there was anything helpful/interesting in those posts?

hope something in here might be of help to you, sorry for not being more specific, but, there doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion/activity in our field...

David,
There are several sample applications of MapGuide adapted for a variety of different purposes at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID= 123112&id=3016779
One of the samples is a basic FM application, MapGuide makes a great platform for users who want to start with a flexible but strong graphical interface and begin to build FM abilitities around that. Good luck! Message was edited by: bhaines

David,
There are two reasons to select Map over AutoCAD. First, Map easily produces the SDF files that make MapGuide applications work really well. That's why GeoMap requires Map and Archibus does not. Second, choose Map if you are doing anything that needs geo-spatial references. For example, if you're managing a utility network in addition to buildings.
I'd be interested in knowing your criteria for choosing your FM program. If you had to pick your top three or four criteria, what would they be?
