building orientation effects on the overall heating and cooling loads

    Hi all,

I am using Ecotect 2011 to study how building orientation effects on the overall heating and cooling loads. My concern is when I change the building orientation, such as from East-West to North-south (90 degree), The results seem not realistic , the difference about 2.5%why is this? where I should look to find why?May Ecotect not the right tool for this kind of study?

Note the building has aspect ratio of 1:3.

    best,

Hi Ecotect is really using a pretty good dynamic simulation for calculating heating and cooling loads. But its really the effect not the loads for ventilation systems.. because its the pasiv loads its really a lot about the window areas and placement. so I think need to know a bit more about the model that you are testing. In my appnion Ecotect is preatty reliable...

    Cheers
