    Exporting to energy plus

I have Ecotect 2010 and am having trouble exporting to Energy Plus 5.0.

The data manager file says its exporting to version 5, but having sent some files to Energy Plus they think its trying to export to an earlier version.

Can I have confirmation that it is exporting to Energy plus 5.?

You can export to gbxml file (from FILE -> Export -> To External Analysis Tool). WIth gbxml file, you can go to Green Building Service. It supports exporting file from gbxml to EP 5.x file format.

To export from Ecotect into EnergyPlus you will need to download the Energyplus transitions program. This will help update your .idf export to the most current version recognized by energyplus. Ecotect currently exports an outdated idf file that is not compatible with the current version of energyplus

    best of luck

Another thing if you are interested in energymodeling take a look at project Vasari

its Autodesk new conceptual massing and Analysis tool that is capable of doing early perimeter and core energy analysis. This Analysis tool is also capable of exporting idf file into Energyplus for further analysis. beside connecting to energyplus it also exports inp files that connect directly in to eQuest's detailed interface.
