    Turn off smileys?

Is there any way to turn off smileys?

It's a problem for those posting code, like for example:

           (defun C:smileytongue:ROOF () ...)

The colon + P has become a smiley.

Better yet, some reasonable degree of intellegence in

the processing of message bodies could've probably

eliminated most of the unintended smileys.

I understand that they can be turned off by each user, but what I was

getting at was unintended smileys that would not become those regardless

of what a user's settings are.

    for example

     (defun C:PROOF () ...)

The unintended smileys even show up when you insert code

    Tony,

    I've just turned emoticons OFF

    :smileytongue:

    so there  to the software

    :smileyhappy:

at least code isn't rude to me ( much) any longer.

Yes, I fully agree, it's not good enough. That was discussed in that thread too.
