Is there any way for a post to appear threaded so we know which posts respond to which posts? Or do we have to use the 'quote' feature?

You can use the Topic Layout instead of Linear but they are not collapsible
so you get to scroll through each and every post for a given topic before
you reach the next topic (which could be pages for some threads). You
can also increase the number of posts per page.

Wow, the topic layout needs some help. It needs to be collaspible. It needs to have tree lines so you can visibly see the reply structure. It would be nice to have the option of viewing more than one reply at a time. Also, there is a serious lack of consistency on the placement of the 'Reply' button between the Linear and Topic layouts.

Yep it's not very well thought out from a usability standpoint.Besides, that would behave far too much like a functional
newsreader and we evidently can't have that.

The quote feature is best alternative if "By Topic" layout isn't preferred.

Eric, can you address any of these issues?

There is not an available configuration to provide a collapsible By Topic view.

I said 'any', but I was hoping for 'all.'
I told you I'd give this thing a fair shot, and part of that involves kicking the tires. I'm not at all happy with it so far, but don't take that personally. Unless, of course, this entire idea, from conception to execution, was fully your idea and design. Then yeah, I suppose you should take it personally. .-)

I am sharing feedback with the user interaction designers, visual designers, developers and others involved. Appreciate the candid feedback and the willingness to kick the tires hard.

So we can have other collapsible elements within message bodies like shown here:
but we can't have it for message navigation? Seems a little fishy to me.
