Tried to send private message to another user.
You have allowed 2 users to register with same user name
"Please correct the highlighted errors and try again.
- The following login names are ambiguous: matasovsky, matasovsky, matasovsky."
If they are ambiguous why allow a 2nd to register??
It gives me 2 names with check boxes. I tick one but it still won't send.
Wasted all that time typing trying to help another user and
FAIL DG.

Good find. Looking into how we can approach fixing this (but it's not a quick fix). The issue technically is not the current forum system or private messaging feature (the error message is technically accurate). The core issue stems from legacy account data migrated and preserved through many systems over the last 10+ years. The current registration process fortunately prevents new duplicate accounts, but legacy account duplicates do exist. Enabling private messaging certainly brought some direct visibility to this.

Hi Eric, I just got this myself. One way to minimize the errant names might be to remove those have 0 posts..... the one I wanted was just recently registered, so how was he able to get a name already in use?

What appear to be duplicates in this case, actually are not behind the scenes. This is primarily due to the fact that you can use an email address as your userID, BUT we truncate from the "@" to maintain privacy of email address. Example:
"jhughes@fakeemailaddress.com" user ID would display as only "jhughes"
The system is choosing from those those truncated values for the private messaging feature.
