I do not wish to be a Guru.

My understanding of CAD is limited in terms of what others offer here and do not believe

that such a moniker is appropriate to me.

    Can I be dialed back?

Not the number of posts mind you, just the name.

    Support Charles ... really

Verbosity and asking a thousand questions add to post count, NOT to a positive reputation.

... and I'm not suggesting that you qualify for those actions :smileyvery-happy:

Honestly - I was wondering if the 5000 count was going to be a milestone.

I'm not sure that numbers milestones like that is ultimately what they want to achieve with the classification system.

You know I really missed a chance to get my Dr. Suess groove on with the beginning of this thread.

I do not wish to be a Guru

It could be that I'm all fru-fru

You would not know if I'm clad

    Or sitting but never sta(n)d

You could not see me think

Or stop to take a drink

I could just wile and ponder

Wondering what the Sage does up yonder...

    Charles,

There's more than one part to being a Guru, so no - it's not just off your 5000 posts. A few more metrics go into it and since you satisfied all of those, that's why you're a Guru now. Even when I look further into metrics that aren't implemented yet but will be in the future, you're still a Guru.

I know you don't feel like you offer as much as others, but trust me, you do. Just being able to point users in the right direction, getting them to think, or having a meaningful conversation is a huge contribution to this community. It's not all about highly professional technical solutions, even though you still offer many of those as well.

If you'd like me to go over what your real numbers look like sometime with you in private just to give you an idea of how you really didn't end up here by accident, I'd be glad to!

And nice Dr. Seuss rhyme there... :smileyhappy:

In the past, before I lost 5 years of CAD experience and the world changed underneath me (I'm still catching back up after 6 years back in the game)... I had been called both Guru and Wizard.  I always preferred the Guru moniker because, as I explained to people, a guru is expected to know a lot of things... a wizard is expected to perform magic!

Yeah, we tried avoiding any names that implied magic or industry specifics, so all of them are about help or knowledge without being too obnoxious (hence the lack of the ranks 'Super Know-It-All' and 'I-Am-Awesome'). :smileyvery-happy:
