We need to be allowed to accept more than one post as a solution.

It's intended to be used to select the "best" contributing post to the solution.  One approach for a case where there is more than one would be to reply confirming what specifically helped and mark your reply as the accepted item.

Which is likely to never happen with most posts.  I'm thinking the

majority of people will identify the first reply that works for them

as the "best" solution and never review the thread again.

Especially since a lot of the things I've needed help with have involved multiple steps.  Example:

    **************

Hey, anyone know how I can 'abc'?

Yeah, try putting the 'L' in the 'c'.

Ok, I did that, and it mixed it up.

Oops.  That should be 'lowercase l' and 'uppercase C'.

Ohhh, nice, now I just really wish it would 'y'.

It will, if you 'x' the 't' and '.' the 'i'.

    **************

So, which one of these is the "best" solution?

    Points for solving:

    l=

    C=

    .-)

    While I agree that there may be more than one post contributing to the solution.  Even if a post had a link to the supposed solution I would still read the entire thread.  A recent example that I ran across is in this post;

    http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Civil-3D/Importing-LandXML-File-Scaling-Issue/m-p/2699071#M133...

Post #4 is relevant and may be part of the solution for someone else experiencing the problem.

I would rather have a good search engine rather than "solution" flags.  Maybe they should enable the "kudos" feature that way you know if the accepted "solution" was presented by someone having a good reputation - j/k.

You may be kidding, but I don't think that's too bad of an idea.

Maybe they should enable the "kudos" feature that way you know if the accepted "solution" was presented by someone having a good reputation - j/k.

It would be good if the OP were able to change the "accepted solution" designation to another post - if a much better solution were later found and posted.

That happened to me, where a solution I accepted turned out to be half-baked, and I posted a better one myself. As is, anyone searching for the same problem will be lead straight to the half-baked solution and might never see the better one several posts further down.

    Ken,

    You can do that.

    1. Open the message you selected as the "accepted solution".

    2. Click on the "Options" drop down and choose "Not the solution" and confirm it.

    3. Accept a new message as the solution.

I just tried it out in the Test forums
