Slab Hatching

I am having trouble getting a hatch pattern to display on a flat slab. I have set all the display properties for the slab in plan view on, defiened the pattern and set it to object. I have also messed with the cut plane height all to no avail. Does anybody know what has to be done to get hatch patterns to display on flat slabs?

Thanks
Chris Hubbard

Do you have the Hatch property in the Slab style or object turned on. It is
defaulted to off.

Chris,

The hatching for slabs is only displayed where the body of the slab is
cut at the "Cut Plane Height". This height is an absolute value,
measured from the World Z=0 elevation, not relative to the slab
insertion point. This was done so that if you have multiple slabs, with
different base heights, the cut plane would go through all of them at
the same elevation. If you need a different cut plane height for a
specific slab, you can give it a unique display override.

Does that help?

I have the slab set with its own overide and the cut plane at 0. I have tried a few different cut plane heights and the hatch does not appear. Should I set the overide to "Style" or "Slab"? What should he cut plane height be? The WCS elevation of the slab is `3'-0"

Based on what Mr. Gold said, you would need to set the cutplane either slightly above or slightly below 3-0" (WCS) depending on whether your slab projects above or extends below the insertion point.

You can set the override either by slab, style, or system, as
appropriate. Remember that the cut plane must pass through the body of
the slab, so if the slab baseline is at 3'-0", and the slab is 6" think
(for example), the cut plane height must be between 3'-0" and 3'-6".

What do you do in the case of a sloped multiple or laminated slab to get it to show the surface hatch of the top material only? When I change the cut line it shows the hatch where the horizontal cut line intersects each layer of the multi layer slab
