Multiple select not active anymore

All of a sudden, I can only select multiple items by holding the shift key.
Previously for example, when using the move command, I could select as many
items as I wanted, then hit enter and continue with the command. now, I can
only highlight and move one at a time. is there a toggle allowing me to
select multiple items at one time????

Right-click on the screen and select "Options" from the menu. Go to the
"Selection" tab. Make sure that the box for "Use Shift to add to selection" is
not checked.
