General Protection Fault...DIBENG.dll error in ADT3.30

BlankWe are running Windows 98SE on a PIII, 500MHZ machine with 384MB of
ram.. Last week the used noticed that when she went to the 'View',
'Toolbars' menu an error message would pop-up mentioning a conflict with
DIBENG.dll. The message stated, "AutoCAD casued a general protection fault
in module DIBENG.dll". The used can select 'Details' or 'Close'. Upon
selecting 'Close' ADT then shuts itself down.

The user has no ability to add toolbars or modify the toolbars/menu.This
problem could have existed for some time as the user rarely uses the
'Toolbar' menu.

I have unistalled all Autodesk products, deleted the 'Autodesk shared'
directory, cleaned the registry, re-booted, upadted Windows 98SE with latest
product updates, disabled Norton AnitVirus, and then reinistalled ADT3.30
(leaving all other Autodesk products off the machine at this point). The
error returns.

Upon doing some reasearch the dibeng.dll file is for the DIB Engine, 16 bit.
This files is present on all our Windows 98SE machines and on none of the
Windows 2000 machines in the office.
I have tried several re-installs following the above process to no avail.
This machine worked well until last week and the only new software added in
the last three months was ADT3.30. I have not seen any possible updates on
the Autodesk website.

Any ideas?

I have since found the problem listed below (in case someone ever needs
assistance).

The conflict is due to an incompatible video driver.
We are using an STB Velocity 4400, a6MB, AGP video card. I reloaded the
driver and situation was resolved.

I assume the incompatibility occured when installing ADT 3.30 since that is
the only new software installed recently.

Microsoft's article
or go to: http://support.atitech.ca/infobase/2950.html for an ATI article on
this topic.
