    Dormers are fatal?

Anyone get a fatal error followed by the ol' "Autocad cannot continue..."
message when performing the dormer command?

I've got a gable element (2 actually) that juts out perpendicular to a
standard gable roof. It's actually larger than a dormer (in fact, it's a
bedroom) and actually extends past the gable of the main roof. I thought the
dormer command might be the one to clean it up, but I get a fatal error when
I use it. See file in CF.

    Thanks-
    Scott.

Dormers must completely cut roof slabs with a closed object..if your dormer
extends beyond the roof slab it won't work. Your roof must be converted to roof
slabs and your dormer must consist of walls and roof slabs. If you want the
arrangement I see you should create a roof with 4 gables, not dormers. You will
have to use another method besides the dormer command. Of course it shouldn't
crash the program, should just give you a message that it won't work.

    Scott,
I checked out your file. I didn't find a single roof slab in it. I
couldn't get it to crash. Can you describe how you did it ?

    Thanks,

Sorry, but it should be noted that I did convert the roofs you see in my
drawing in CF to roof slabs before I began my attempted processes. The
drawing posted contains the roofs BEFORE converting to roof slabs.

    Scott,
I still can't get it to crash. Do you have SP1 installed ?
    Thanks,

Well, even if you can't make it crash, can the problem of my roof
configuration be solved? How do you trim the pieces I've pointed to?

    Scott,

    Do you have SP1 installed?

I haven't looked at your drawing, but if you can't trim your roof slabs
against other roof slabs, or walls, have you tried drawing a 2D polyline in
plan, where they need to be trimmed, and trimming them against that?
