Creating a custom colored material using a supplied material.

I am able to apply a material in ADT or VIZ. I have taken the split face block material in VIZ / ADT and copied it to my scratch palette in VIZ. I right click it and choose properties. I change the diffuse color because i do not want to use the default color of the split faced block. I copy it to my content browser - the name of my material is (split face sw7020). The thumbnail of the material shows up in my content browser the color that i want with the bump map of the split face. - so basically i have a "painted" split face block. I i-drop the new material from the content browser to my ADT drawing. I create a new material definition assigning my custom colored split face block to my new material called "split face painted" with the material definiton of the painted split face block. I then go into my style manager and assign my new material "split face painted" to a mass element that i have created. When i change to my display that shows materials - the mass element shows the material of the split face block but with the default color of the split face block - not my custom colored block. What is up with that? It does not show up in ADT or VIZ. The default color does but the custom color does not. Can you help?? I am basically modifying the original bump map material color and saving it as a custom material that is the same material - just painted in a sense. It shows up in thumbnails of the material in the material palette of VIZ and in my Content Browser but not when i assign it to a mass element. I hope someone can help and thanks in advance - Thanks -- Dan -

This works fine for me.

What did you reduce the Diffuse Bitmap setting in
Viz R to?

Open the Rmat editor and check the bitmap blend, it
should be less than 100, the same as you set in Viz R.

Could you post the files to customer
files newsgroup?

Cbusa --

You are the best -- thanks -- that worked great -- i had my diffuse map in Viz set to 100, i lowered it to 50 and the color comes in great.

I owe you --

Thanks --
