I do not understand, not all that unusual by the way. I grip edit all
the time with the defpoints layer off, as soon as you select the
dimension you get the grip box at the exact location of the defpoints
dot allowing you to verify and move the pick point.
The main problem with leaving the defpoints on is that you can be moving
dimensions around and not even knowing it even though your dimensions
are off. My problem with this since R14 is that they do not turn off
when you turn off the dimension layer, I see no advantage to this as it
can only lead to problems with goofing up your dimensions. The reason I
call it a "feature" is that for some reason it was changed in R2000 and
the only explanation I heard is that now you can edit your dimensions
even if they are off, for instance if you move a wall. I for one think
that is very risky and I could not imagine editing them when they are
off.
