VectorWorks DWG import??

Hello all,

any suggestions on what to tell the VectorWorks people to do to get a good
DWG transfer into AS 6.01?

I'm having constant prob's with V/W files, as are most of the people I know
working in A-CadLT and R14, so this is clearly a V/W prob........

but what do we tell them to change in their files so we can read them?
They've got no prob with my outbound AS files (DWG format), but what I get
back from them is totally inconsistent!

Ideas?

Thx

Have them explode (convert to base entities or whatever VW calls it) every
thing before they export and see if everything comes through

Thanks for the reply, I've been trying that with some success. There also
seems to be a prob with V/W function dealing with "classes", which from what
I've been told sounds like the old Drafix (DOS) ability to group layers,
except that they can group entities from various layers into a "class", and
if they don't undo that function, some stuff doesn't come thru.

The other really interesting thing is V/W for PC, which sends me DWG files
with all entities piled on top of each other...as if the "0" ref was lost,
and they're all in a jumble!

Anyone else had to go thru this?

Mike

Suggest to them that they buy 1 copy of AutoCAD LT and they can mess with their
own files until they look right. When one of my customers was having a problem
with my DWGs, that is what I did. Now my DWG files are nearly flawless.
