Template title block edit

Hi

Asking the same question again due to no replies. This maybe because there is a glitch with the program and there is no way to edit a default template title block?
The problem is not being able to reposition text in the title block added via the database drop-down "assign entity field". If you add a long company name for example the text will fall out of the title block and start at the midpoint of the text box.
I have tried exploding the title block that will then allow you to reposition the text entities but cannot revert back to the original text. The title block will display something like <%owner> (after "grouping") not the company name.

Surely someone can answer this? Is there help available from Autodesk?

Tony

Tony,

This isn't an answer but based on you posting it twice, possibly a little feedback would be helpful.

To me your post looks like a confusing and not fully explained situation of a convergence of multiple features/entities/tools/possibilities. .

Once you bring it up for use, a "template" is just a drawing. Everything shown on the paper is just a bunch of entities that can be modified / edited in all of the normal manners.

Maybe someone else can figure out what you mean plus know the answer and respond.....if not, you might want to use the above to simplify and more fully explain the issue.

Hope that helps a little.

HI, Tony

You can explode any template modify each text field location text size etc get everything where you want it you might want to put real text over top the formula text so you can get a feel for where and how it will look and then delete. Add any extra fields you want with the database > options do this before creating the embedded text point line.

Remember:

Can only use Text point

new formula from database is .<%db(variable)> the other built in variables are in the user help file for the .<%getdata(variable)>

don't forget to check the formula box in the info toobar

Then:

Select everything

Select Create Symbol

Follow the dialogs to create the symbols and you have to enter values for each field

ok out and it should be created as a new symbol

Then you can drag the symbol in when needed...

Or to save your new symbol as starter template

Start blank drawing

Optional add all the defaults you want like layers, dim styles etc.

Load your symbol you created with fields as above

save as any file name you can remember "ansibtemplate" as a normal .skf file

next close all drawings

goto file > new

Pick the template tab

select organize template

add

browse to the skf you created

name your template

make sure you uncheck the box talking about deleteing all entities...

ok out and you should have your template in the list ready to go

Well done. You nailed it!
I think this instruction should be added to the help menu and tutorial PDF "Title Block Edit" As we all need to setup custom templates at some stage?

Cheers

Tony
