This can be done
Read the help file on "Using a Drawing as a database" also "embedding
formulas in text"
An outline of how to do it is:
use Database>options to create two variables say X and Y. These variables
are assigned to all objects not just symbols. Unless you want to display
the coordinates in the drawing you can just use a marker.
use the selection modifier to select all markers
Database>Assign Field to assign %X to X and %Y to Y (this would already be
done if you make a symbol)
Database>Report to create a report containing UID, X and Y and run.
Save as a CSV

Hi Harvey and Fred,
What I would like to do is create a symbol eg.
a small circle with its centre as a base point, then give this base point a
xy coordinate, then save it to my symbol library. This should allow me to use
this symbol multiple times in any drawing of my choice.
After placing these symbols on the selected drawing I can then select these
symbols to export to a csv file which gives me the xy coordinates without
having to go to each symbol to allocate the xy coordinate fields into the
data base before exporting. Is there a way of achieving this process.
Putting it simply : (a) Create a symbol and embed with xy
coordinates.
(b) Place these symbols on selected drawing.
(c) Select the placed symbols and export the data
to a csv file.
Is this possible and if so how can it be done?
Thanks
Ray
