When I attempt to open an Autocad LT for the Mac dwg file on my Mac, the following error message comes up:
Adobe Reader could not open '[file name].dwg' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
I can open the document through a series of commands, but it's time consuming.
How do I 'teach' my computer to first try to open a dwg file through Autocad [and not Adobe]?

In Windows its File Association and you can do it by Right Clicking and Open with from the Desktop I believe.
Mac will have its own structure for assigning what to open what file.

Hi,
You have to select one of your DWG files in Finder, then Ctrl+click (or right-click) it, select "Get info" from context menu. In "Get info" window select "Open with" drop-down and select AutoCAD LT from the list of suggested applications. Then pick "Change all..." button and select "Continue" in conformation window.
