i'm a user of autocad on PC since version R14, and i've used it with bootcamp for the last 3 years on a macbook pro and an imac. It's a shame that autodesk is making this kind of selection/exclusion leaving a lot of autocad and apple enthusiasts out. Frustrating!

It is more than frustrating. How could make such a big mistake? I have a Macbook Pro 4,1 which runs a very very powerful processor 2.5Ghz Core 2 Duo with 800Mhz FSB, 3MB Cache (and you know what? I am on the latest OS Apple released which is only for 64 Bit processors) and Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB Vram YET it is not supported. You must be joking! If I were on Windows with this machine I was quite able to run AutoCAD 2011 and even further 4 releases. It is such a big big big disappointment. Have Autodesk made a deal with Apple to make us buy new computers?

I have a MacBookPros5,5, AutoCAD 2011 for Mac still doesn't load.  Is MacBookPros5,5 less than MacBookPros5,1?

The MacBookPro5,5 is the 13" 2009 Unibody model. The 5,1, 5,2, 5,3 and 5,4 are the 15" and 17" Unibody models with the only distinction being a PC Card slot instead of a SD flash slot.

It also uses the nVidia 9400M instead of the 9400M + 9600GT configuration that the 15" and 17" models have. This might be why AutoCAD won't run on your machine; the 9400M doesn't have a whole heck of a lot of oomph to it.

In my MacBookPro5,5 Autocad doesn't work! Man Mad

MacBook Pro 4,1 is supported. Did you run into issues trying to install?

Thanks for the reply.  I'm curious why the installer allows the program to install but won't allow it to run.  Perhaps it'd be better to notify the user that the model doesn't meet the minimum requirement and halt the installation process right there and then.

Can you tell me what kind of graphics card your machine has? We have some issues on certain cards and while we tried to catch them in the installer - looks like we didn't get all of them.

I have a MacBookPro5,5, 13", 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo with nVidia 9400M, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD.  The 9400M is the same as the higher-end 15" and 17" models, except that those models also have a separate 9600GT as mentioned by a previous poster.

That particular Macbook 5,5 was actually specifically tested with and we found no issues. Can you tell me what happens when you run the product? Does it hang? Does it crash? Do you get a chance to submit an error report? If you do, let me know when you submitted it and I can try to find it to see if I get any clues.

This appears to be a running theme.  I have installed AutoCad for Mac and installation goes fine, but when I try and launch the app dies. I have uninstalled and re-installed the application still no luck.

I am running it on a MacBook Pro 5,4 2.53 Core 2 Duo with 8 GB RAM and 1 TB hd with 650GB of free space.

Not sure where I need to go from here.

The splash screen loads, the dock icon bounces up and down, and then it just quits.

For further information the system profiler will provide more detailed and accurate information than users' accounts of their computers. (Yes, I know they paid for them and should know what's in them, but still)

The system profile can be made by going to the Apple menu in the upper right-hand corner, selecting "About This Mac," clicking "More Info" in the dialog that shows up and pressing shift-command-S for the Save As dialog. Here's part of my system profile:

The Macbook Pro 4.1 is not listed on the Autodesk site as a supported computer. I have a Macpro 3.1 which is also not listed as a supported computer but I installed the program and it seems to run fine but loads very slowly. Will a graphics card upgrade help? The programs seems to run fine on my Macbook Pro 5.2.

Also please consider adding the "etransmit" command and support for inserting pdf files into drawings.

Also the utility commands with audit and recover. Not everyone will be using a mac.

Can you please tell me:

1. Were you a participant in AutoCAD 2011 for Mac Beta program? If yes, please uninstall your Beta(s) and try installing the AutoCAD 2011 for Mac. Please let us know if this fixes the issue.

2. Do you have any Adobe Software installed on your system? If yes, could you please send us the following log file:

/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Adlm/ACD2011ENUAdlm.log

3. Is your system locale US English? If not, could you change your system locale to English (Using System Preferences -> International) and try re-launching AutoCAD again?

Thanks,

Can you confirm you've looked in /Library/Application Support/Autodesk/ and cannot find the file ACD2011ENUAdlm.log?

Does that folder exist?
