move tool problems

Hi,

I'm using autocad for mac 2012 and my move tool has just started playing up.

I select what I want to move and when i type "move", some of the lines just go to random places on the page even though it should move as one entity.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

Does the same thing happen when you type "m", "_move" or click the Move tool in the ribbon?

What does the command prompt read during/after the operation?

What happens if you select the Move tool first and then select the objects?

Have you contacted your reseller?

it says the normal command instructions "specify base point" etc.

It happens when I type "move" first as well.

I don't know who to contact because it's an educational version from autodesk that I'm using for my degree.

It's only happening with move as well, "copy" is fine

Hi,

Check please - maybe the objects you try to move are connected each other with some parametric constraints.

May I ask you to clarify what you mean by this? Is there a command to check or edit those? Please excuse my ignorance, I'm not super familiar with the settings of this program, thanks.

Hi,

You can try to remove geometric constraints (if any):
Use menu Parametric -> Delete Constraints, when AutoCAD will ask to select objects, type ALL at the command prompt and hit Return.
Now try to use MOVE command.
