manipulating same object in different paper space viewports.

searching for way to hide same object in one viewport only.

context: dwg file is set to paperspace.

i have created multiple viewports within this one paper space layout.

i am looking to use the same objects in different ways, in two or more viewports.

for example:

in model space are a square, circle and triangle sharing the same centerpoint and are the same size.

in paper space are three viewports. in viewport 1, only the square is visible.

in viewport 2, only the circle is visible.

in viewport 3, only the triangle is visible.

how can i achieve this without altering or adding new objects in model space?

If each object was on its own layer, you can freeze each inside any viewport you want without affecting the others.

tried your suggestion, but it has unfortunately not solved the problem.

each of the three objects were given their own layer [i was hoping to avoid having to copy the same object to different layers, but if it does the job, that's fine]

i went into one of the three viewports, and froze two objects. these two objects become frozen on all three viewports.

fyi: i tried another approach: setting up three viewport layers,i moved each viewport to its own layer it was no help.

it seems that my file does not have the capacity to freeze objects selectively in different viewports.

what am i missing or doing incorrectly?

attached is the test file.

Hi,

If you are using LAYFRZ command (from Layers palette), than check settings before selecting the object on the layer you want to freeze in viewport. It should be Vpfreeze foe Viewports:

Command: _LAYFRZ
Current settings: Viewports=Vpfreeze, Block nesting level=Entity
Select an object on the layer to be frozen or [Settings/Undo]S
Enter setting type for [Viewports/Block selection]V
In paper space viewport use [Freeze/Vpfreeze] <Vpfreeze>:

I have a mapspace raster image that I would like to freeze in one viewport but not the other.  The vpfreeze command doesn't work.  Is there another?

Hi,

I was able to vpfreeze raster image in one of viewports by setting Viewports option of LAYFRZ command to Vpfreeze:

The solution was to turn off all the specific maps and return the default in the model space.   after return to the default map.  Use the display maps from the contextual ribbon.

Hi Clint,

You posted in wrong place. This is AutoCAD for Mac Forum and you wrote about AutoCAD vertical for PC. That is why I was not able to answer your question correctly. Sorry.
