I made a rectangle with the polyline tool. In the Properties Inspector, I see Length and Area but I do not see width. How do I get the width to display?
Hi,
Switch to All tab in Properties inspector
Maxim
Sorry, I should have said I was there already. The question should have been:
Why is it zero. I see your poly is 0 as well...
Hi,
All objects in AutoCAD have zero width (from mathematical point of view), so zero width (by default) for polyline is absolutely normal. Polyline is only one object that can has a width greater than zero. You can change Global width (or start and end width for each segment) for Poly in Properties palette- just put cursor there and type any positive number.
You can also change Poly width with an option inside PEDIT command.
Have to say, that for printing (plotting) purposes each object has Lineweight property, that affect the width of objects (lines, circles, ellipses, etc.) during printing.

In order to see the width of Polyline with assigned non-zero width you don't have to do something special. You can see it on screen in drawing area.
If you want to see approximation for plotting width (lineweights), you have to turn on "Show/Hide lineweight" toggle button on Status Bar:

I have tried the toggle button Show/Hide Lineweight......but it doesnt work....no matter what i try it just will not show the line thickness (weight) on the drawing..!
Can anyone help...?
(Note - I am using AutoCAD LT 2013 for MAC)
Hi,
In order to see lineweight differences (if Show/Hide Lineweight button is ON) you have to assign different lineweights to objects in your drawing via Layers properties or directly to each object.
