Plotting to pdf hides some layers on iPhone, iPad

Hello,

This is pretty weird and I haven's been able to find any similar thread, if there is one sorry for duplicating.

I am using AutoCAD 2014 for Mac (OSX Mavericks 10.9.2). Whenever I plot a drawing to pdf and email it some layers disappear when the pdf is opened on an iPhone or iPad. The pdf has no problems when it is opened on my laptop or any other PC (Windows or Mac), and can be printed correctly.

I have attached an image that shows what is displayed on computers or when printed and below what is displayed on iPhone/iPad. All the elements that are missing belong to different layers, but they all have the same plot style. Some of them are blocks, but others are just lines or plines.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

I have not seen such issues although I use such scenario with my files.

Could you share your DWG file (or part of it with problem layers)?

Maxim

Thank you for youe quick response!

Here is a part of the CAD file (although it happens in many others) and the plot style file. Thanks again for your time!

I can confirm the issue.
It seems that PDF engine in Mac OS (on Mavericks more precisely, as I have not tested this on 10.8.5) creates lines in PDF files with width less than 0.05 mm assigned in Plot Style table as lines with zero width. And PDF engine on iPhone can not show lines with such width.

Thanks for trying it out and for the explanation! It is really annoying, as everytime I send drawings the recipients are unable to see them on their devices. I would like to open a support ticket for this to be solved, should I try OSX or iOS helpdesk? Or both?

Interesting question.
I think this looks like iOS fault.

I decided to ask at the OSX forum, as it seems only the pdfs created on a mac are displayed wrong on iPhones, unlike those from Windows. Anyway, all I want is that this gets solved. You can follow up issue here and see if there is any fix

Hi - I am having the same issue as well as with red lines and various other colored lines.  pdf on my mac shows the lines but on the iphone or ipad they are missing.  So do you think this is both lineweight and color attribute issue?  If anyone has already figured out which colors and lines NOT to use, please post as there are many to sift through.

Thank you

Mindy

I am running Yosemite and AutoCad Lt 2014

ipads and iphone are on latest software

Hi Mindy,

I think it is only lineweight issue.

Colud you attach here one of your PDFs with such issue?
