Drawing opening up as 'read only'

Why do some drawings open up as 'Read Only' and remain read only when saved as a new drawing?  This doesn't happen every time only on random occassions.  It's a pain and I would like to know if there is a fix for this or another work around.  The Autodesk product is Autocad LT 2013 for Mac.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Where do you save your files?

Is it network location?

Do you have enough privileges to write to this location?

Is the connection with this network location (if any) stable enough?

Maxim

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.

We are a small office with three macs and a server, so the drawings are saved to the server.  We have one mac dedicated to autocad and this has the privelages set to full read and write.

I would hope that the connection to the network is stable as it is hard wired but I do not know enough to be able to check.

As I said it doesn't happen with all drawings and appears intermittent so it's somewhat frustrating.

I tried looking on the Autodesk help pages for mac and the link posted on their page doesn't work, so no joy there! Smiley Sad

I heard about this problem, but he never met it, because basically I'm working with local files.

Hi! have you tried saving as with a diferent name? or type the command “DXFOUT” , save it with another name and then type ”DXFIN” and open the file you just saved. Hope it works! 🙂
