Disable F1

Is is possible to disable the F1 key, or assign it to Esc instead of Help? I did that on Autocad for Windows as I frequently hit it by mistake.

thanks

Hi,
Yes, it is possible, if you are not afraid of "drilling" inside AutoCAD application folder.
Which AutoCAD version do you have?

OK,

I just checked, my solution will work in both AC 2013 and in AC 2014.

Unzip attached AcceleratorRoot.cui file and put it inside AuoCAD application to:

/Applications/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2013/AutoCAD 2013.app/Contents/Resources/ - for AC 2013

and to

/Applications/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2014/AutoCAD 2014.app/Contents/Resources/ - for AC 2014

YOU HAVE TO BACKUP ORIGINAL AcceleratorRoot.cui FILE BEFORE COPY

Now F1 will work as ^C^C

To say true I also often overshoot Esc key, especially on MacBook, so I've made this customization long time ago. 🙂

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!
Hi,
If you mean PC version you can accomplish this via CUI editor- just change command assignment for F1.
You can also ask your question here:
