Autocad for mac units?

I'm new to Autocad for Mac and having trouble understanding units, for example I want to draw a line 1000mm long but when inputting the dimension there is a decimal point e.g. 1.000 is it possible to remove the decimal point and just input 1000mm or 500mm and so on?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

If you mean trailing zeros in dimensions that you put in the drawing, than you have to fine-tune Dimension Style you are using:

In Dimension Style dialog select current Dimension Style, select "Modify..." from "Gear" menu under Dimension Style list, go to "Primary Units" tab and check-mark "Trailing" in "Zero Suppression" section (1)

You can also set Dimension precision to "0" instead of default "0.0000" (2), but then if you will draw a line 10.4 mm, the dimension will show 10 instead of real 10.4 (with trailing zeros suppressed)

Is it possible to remove the decimal point altogether and for a line 1000mm
in length just to input 1000? I come from using the windows autocad
architecture program where you can do this as default. I just don't
understand what the decimal point represents in the mac version, if i just
input a length 1000 for a line, you can't seem to find the end of it where
if I input 1.000 it seems to actually be 1000mm in real life? Or is it
actually 1.000mm which isn't 1000mm in real life.

Thanks for the help I'm sitting here scratching my head

In AutoCAD (both Mac and Win, and AutoCAD verticals - such as AutoCAD Architecture) you can input distances without decimal points, in this case AutoCAD assumes, that decimal part is zero: 1000=1000.000 - isn't it?

In plain AutoCAD you can treat 1 AutoCAD unit as 1 mm, or as 1 m, or as 1 km - it is up to you. So if you decide that 1 AutoCAD unit equal 1 mm in real life (that is common practice if you are using Metric system) you have to input 1000 AutoCAD units for 1000 mm.

If you draw 1000 units (mm) line an don't see it's end - just ZOOM Extents - and you will see whole line.
