Evening all,

Quick update, I've conducted a very brief test on my laptop (Macbook air i5 1.7 Ghz, 4GB), found my trial copy of AutoCAD and installed.

Checked all appears to be working, i.e it opend ok, was able to open and work on drawings, save etc, all ok and appears stable. No suprise there as 2013 I have found on my main iMAC to be very good and nice and stable.

Downloaded and installed Mavericks, now I must stress this is by no means an in-depth test and should not be taken as a "green" light that 2013 works with Mavericks, but opened up AutoCAD, loaded a drawing and played about for a bit, all seems well.

Am now going to leave open for a longer "soak test" to see what happends.

So in short, my non in-depth test has resulted in nothing happening YET.

Please take this will a large dose of caution as the laptop is not my main work station so if it all goes "pear shaped" I've losted nothing.

If anybody else has done something similar would love to hear about it.

Philip,

I unfortunately downloaded Mavericks OS 10.9 and have the same problem as one of the other folks here.  AutoCAD LT 2013 hangs up when you edit a block or attribute and hit OK or enter.  I am currently unable to use AutoCAD on my PowerBook.  We need a fix right away.  Big problem here.

Thanks,

Mark T.

Hi,
I have one "quick" idea, while AutoCAD for Mac developers works on update for AC 2013 in order to make it compatible with new OS X, you can download trial version of AC LT 2014 for Mac, install it and use as long as 30 days. Hope that fix for 2013 will be ready soon.

Hi,

Which one do you mean by "latest"?
There was only one patch (Service Pack 1 for AC 2013 for Mac) and it couldn't correct the problem, because it was released one year ago - 2012-Oct-11.

Got to ask why its taking so long!!!!

AutoDESK did make the statement of wishing to align with Apple OS releases!!!!!!

The statement concerned the release of new releases of AutoCAD.

A4M2014 with Apple's latest OS is the implication (and so far, what is being offered).
So it will be A4M2015 for Apple's next itiration.
and so on.

If they want to pick up A4M2013 or lower they will make that statement soon enough. Watch for it if it happens.

I just registered and downloaded the update.

When I try to run it gives me a message that Autocad and SP1 must be installed. I purchased Autocad from the App Store but it seems that this update doesn?t recognize it.

How do I work around this problem?

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

The Update is for full AutoCAD, not LT that you own.

All,

There was a suggestion a couple pages back that you could download the free LT 2014 30-day trial, until AutoDesk finishes the Beta test of the fix for LT 2013 versus Mavericks.

FYI:  According to an online chat I just had with an AutoDesk representative, once you download the free trial, at the end of the 30 days you WILL NOT be able to get the upgrade from 2013 to 2014.  You will have to pay for the full version of 2014 and not save the $600!

You would think that AutoDesk would waive this requirement, since they and Apple have caused us all quite a bit of heartburn???

YES. UPDATE DOES NOT WORK ON AUTOCADLT2013.

MAVERICKS MORE THAN 200 NEW FEATURES.

YES, ONE OF THIS IS ''KILLING THE AUTOCADS''!...

No, according to AutoDesk the upgrade from LT 2013 to LT 2014 works.  But if you use the free 30-day trial of LT 2014, after the 30-days goes by you cannot use the upgrade to 2013.  You have to buy the full version of LT 2014.

Are there plans to release an update / beta build for Mac LT as well?

Hi Mark,

I would like to confirm that trial usage has NO bearing on the Autodesk upgrade process and policy.

If you have an eligible AutoCAD LT for Mac 2013 license (excludes the AutoCAD LT for Mac app), you would currently be able to upgrade it to AutoCAD LT for Mac 2014 regardless of whether or not you have already installed the 2014 software. As a matter of fact we actually encourage doing so, as it provides a testing opportunity prior to committing with a purchase.

My apologies for the false information that was previously provided to you and please don't hesitate to let me know if I can provide additional clarification!
