I keep having to force quit my drawings due to Autocad freezing. I am trying to download the recomended patch but the program is so slow it keeps becoming unresponsive half way through the download, so I have been unable to download the patch. Does anyone know why it has started behaving like this? Normally is it fine. Any ideas where else I can download the patch from?

Thank you for the direct links.
This has solved the patch update problem, but I am still having issues with unresponsive and slowness of the program. Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks.
Hi Maxim,
Many thanks for your reply. Unfortionately, I am still having problems with freezing.
I've followed your suggestions regarding layerfilter and still having the same issues with freezing. I set it to 3 then re-opened the drawing and didn't get any messages.
The building I am drawing is 256m2.
I've just updated my OS system to Maverick and Autocad to 2014. I've installed the patch.
Is it possible to send you the drawing to review?
There are no Xrefs, I've done the drawing myself on this one computer. Not much text, just a few room labels.
Thanks,
Lauran
Hi Lauran,
I received your file.
After I opened it I have found a huge number of Geometric Constraints in the drawing (they were hidden by default). Here is screenshot of your file when I select Parametric -> Constraint Bars -> Show all:
After I deleted Constraints (menu Parametric -> Delete constraints, then I used All option to select all objects in the drawing) everything seems fine with your drawing. The size of the drawing became 811 Kb, instead of 27+ Mb of the file you sent to me.
It appears you have Infer Constraints turned ON, look on Status Bar:
if so, each object you create in the drawing gets constrained to other geometry, then the size of the file grows, the performance degrade.
I sent you your file back to your e-mail.
Maxim
I forgot to show you where you can check Infer Constraints on Status Bar:
