ACAD MAC Equipment Schedules?

For years I have worked with ACAD MEP on a MAC via a separate Bootcamp Hard Drive.  I would really prefer not to be obligated to maintain a Windows Machine any more and have begun to explore ACAD for MAC.

Among the things I design are fire sprinkler systems which can be represented very easily and adequately in 2D with basic ACAD.  The only thing I do not see how to do in a reasonable fashion with the ACAD MAC software is create EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES.

I have tried to study the procedure to create a data extraction template, extract data, etc.

I have created Fire Sprinkler blocks with attributes.  I would like those attributes to report in a table.

How is this done?  Has anyone done it?  Is ther some kind of instructional material I can avail myself of?

Thanks You in advance for the help.

ACAD MEP is a very specialized variant of AutoCAD with hundreds of abilities.
ACAD MAC is ACAD (plain), lacking in many of the MEP features you used to do. And as if that wasn't enough, the MAC version has no OLE linking (A Windows/Microsoft feature) which plain ACAD in WIndows does have and can do.

Sorry, you are out of luck with ACAD MAC.

Thank you for the reply.

Really, there is No way to creat an equipment sched other than manually filling in the table?

Once the data is extracted is there no way to then import the tab delimited file into a table?

Thanks

Hi Wethead,

Unfortunatelly there is no direct way in AutoCAD for Mac.

Furthermore, as there is no Visual Lips functions support in AC for Mac, you can not use existing Lisp routines to automate the process of creation and filling in Tables. I searched Internet in order to find some "plain" AutoLISP solutions and the only one routine I have found was DRAWCHART.LSP, written by Bill Kramer in 2003. It is the set of AutoLISP functions that allows to automate the process of hand-drawing table with data prepared in special way.

I attached the routine to the post, you can look at it.

Another way is to extract data in SDF format (you have to prepare special temolate in order to simulate columns in the "table"), then you can import extracted data file to MTEXT in AutoCAD. Here is an example file from "AutoCAD Mac 2011: One Step at a Time" book by Timothy Sean Sykes:

valve          Gate           4"   150#        55.00
valve          Gate           4"   150#        55.00
*B             Globe          3"   150#        75.00
*B             Control        3"   300#       175.00
*B             Gate           3/4" 800#        35.00
valve          Gate           2"   150#        55.00
valve          Gate           6"   150#       127.00
*B             Check          6"   150#       195.00
valve          Gate           6"   150#       127.00
*B             Check          6"   150#       195.00
valve          Gate           10"  150#       585.00
DrainVent      Gate           3/4" 800#        35.00
valve          Gate           10"  150#       585.00
DrainVent      Gate           3/4" 800#        35.00
valve          Gate           8"   150#       385.00
valve          Gate           6"   150#       127.00
valve          Gate           6"   150#       127.00
*B             Control        4"   300#       275.00
*B             Globe          4"   150#       175.00
*B             Gate           3/4" 800#        35.00

After importing to MTEXT it should look something like this (if you will use monospaced font):
