cap plate connection

Anybody knows how to make the connection between steel column to underside of flange beam.

In other programs it´s typical cap plate but here ASD don´t have this option.

Profiles are welded plates (double T).

Easy Done

Use macro End plate:Column to beam flange. I tried it with a SHS column and it wouldn't work so I changed the column to a UB and then it works good. After you get every thing correct explode the macro and change the column back to it's original

Hope this works for you

Tony, Sorry  for the delay, I´m working too much.

This drawing only contains a pair of pieces.

Anyway, I´ll not continue using/trying to learn ASD for welded plates structures, I think if I need two o more steps to obtain

a similar structure which I will obtain just in one step in other programs is too much.

I use ASD for hot rolled profiles so I hope you can help me in the future.

Thanks for your time.

Hope there will be some way of creating additional macros, the program is practically unusable if you can't use SHS/CHS/RHS, can't create cap plate connections, I've only started using it but so far to bad!

I think each company has his strenght, ASD isn't for Autodesk.

In a Latinoamerican forum someone said me a few months ago that this is a good program but have a long road ahead, we can't obtain all we need as another program.

Today ASD can't works with all structures, just with a limited range as you said.

I'll continue looking for another program, there are many to see.

Yes. Use the "inverted" Endplate - Beam to column flange connection.
