Hi all,
How do you guys allow for structural tolerances when doing connection details in ASD 2013?
Eg:
254x146x31 UB is actually 251.5mm, but you also have a rolling tolerance of ±4% which has to accounted for, plus paint finishes etc..
Any Ideas?
Regards,
Charl

We have always detailed to what the material acutally is, 251.5 in your case, and have had no real issues due to rollings. If a beam is running over a column we make the column to the bottom of the beam based on 251.5 and has worked for us.

HI,
Thanks for the reply.
Do you know of any Connection Gap setting in ASD when doing Steel drawings?
Regards,
Charl
