Merging Rem Regions Causing Raster To Become Thicker

I've been having a problem in Raster Design 05, 06, 07, 08, and 10. This problem didn't exist in 2004.
When I select a region in a bitonal TIFF using the REM Region tools
move the region
then merge it back to the image
the merged raster becomes thicker then it was originally. If I do this multiple times the raster becomes unreadable.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

After upgrading to AutoCAD 2010, Raster Design 2010 & Windows 7 I am having this same problem with *.gp4 files
(i.e. raster files become thicker with each mod & becoming unreadable).
I have checked Image Settings & made them identical to my RD2008 settings with no improvement.
Has anyone else had this problem & been able to overcome it?
(I did not have this problem before using AutoCAD 2008, Raster Design 2008 & Windows XP)
