Resizing the image frame without scaling the image.

I have just recently been upgraded from 2004 AutoCAD (with Raster design 2004) to 2008 AutoCAD (with Raster design 2008). I have been using 2004 for 4 years now.

In 04 I was able to crop the image (mil) to a larger size. This would increase the size of the image frame without scaling the image itself. This allowed me to create an area to which I could work. (i.e. somewhere to move/store parts of my image temporarily, or to just space them out to fit my new larger borders.) In 08 I have not been able to accomplish this. I have been reading the help files as well as using the users guide and have had no success finding a setting or procedure to accomplish this. The work around that I have found is to scale the image larger, create a region, then scale the region back to its original size within the now larger image frame. Then crop the image to the new finished size.

I would greatly appreciate any help or information that you could provide on this situation.

Thank you Lou

In 2008 the crop functions were fixed so that they properly
"shrink-wrapped", so that's why it's different from your 2004.

Here's what you can do:

INEW, to create a new image.
Pick where you want the new frame to be in your drawing (containing your
existing image).
(Note: the density of this new image is not really important, just be
careful not to make it too large)
IIMERGE, to merge to the two images.
Select the new (blank) image as the source, and your original image as the
destination.
(the resulting image will have the density of destination)

I have just upgraded from 2005 to 2008 and have exactly the same problem. I have about 5000 files that I need to add the image, crop/resize and save.

In 2005 it was simple, make it fit as close as possible to the titleblock border then crop and it would resize the canvas to match without scaling the image.

I can't find where to do this in 2008 and I really don't have the time to keep adding a second image and merging.

I've tried rubbersheeting but that changes the scale of the image as well as the canvas size. The only other work around I can think of is that I have to open all the images in Photo Editor, resize the canvas then put them all back into CAD... not really an option.

Any chance of putting that very good function back please!
I am not alone, there are 12 other ppl here all shouting for the same thing.
Regards,
Emma

What command are you using?

ICROP crops the image without scaling it.

ICROP works excellent. Thanks for the tip.
