Hi Mark,
Raster Design uncompresses the image file before to open it. So if you have
a 300MB compressed file it is possible that it is going to need 3GB
uncompressed. If the uncompressed size of the image is more than 2GB, then
Raster Design will not be able to open the image.
If you are having trouble loading/inserting images, here are several
troubleshooting steps you can take:
1) Watch the image swap file size as you are opening or processing your
images. See if it's size approaches 2 GB.
The file can be found by looking for a large, recently created file in your
%TEMP% folder with a name like "IExxxx.TMP" (Start > Run > CMD - type %TEMP%
to find this folder)
2) Prior to importing the images, try to save them as TIFF uncompressed in
another program if possible. The goal will be to prevent the Image SWAP
file from growing above 2 GB.
Suggestions:
1) Make sure not to set your Raster Design "Memory Limit" too high. If you
have 1 GB of RAM, I wouldn't set it much higher than 600 MB. Performance can
be slow if AutoCAD tries to grab more RAM than your system actually has
free.
2) Export your image file to TIFF, TILED, UNCOMPRESSED. This will prevent
the SWAP file from growing when the image is being opened. This in turn
will give Raster Design more "room" to work with when you are Editing your
images later.
3) You can convert the TIFF files back to the original format after you are
done processing them in Raster Design.
I hope this information helps.
