crazy leaders

wonder if anyone could help solve a problem I've encountered in AutoCAD 14.
working on a set of drawings prepared using work prepared by others. orig.
dwgs stripped-down and made to conform our standard layer system to form
basis of new dwgs. however, whenever I open a dwg, all leaders in the file
stretch out of shape and converge to a common point somewhere in the middle
of the dwg. tried audit, purge, and blocking work into a new dwg. nothing
worked. in the end, just erased and re-drew leaders, which sorted the
problem.
any advice would be appreciated.

It sounds like the dimscale variable.

Gary, you aren't the only to encounter this problem. I ran accross it with about 3,000 or so drawings from the U.K. Can't explain it and can't fix it. Thew where drawn in R12 and earlier, and regardless of the version, all the dimensions and leaders do thesame thing, they stretch to a point in space and you can't stretch them back by gripping on the point. I sent many to my authorized AutoCAD Dealer for support and they threw their hands up. If you find an answer or anyone else out there has a solution, let me know. By the way, I came across the situation that the drawings look fine when inserted as a block, however, when you explode them they go hay-wire. I would love to know why. It would have saved me hundreds of hours of redraw time. And I still have more to do.

That last part, that you can insert the .dwg's fine and you only have problems when you explode, sounds exactly like a dimscale problem! I've seen this before. Try a dim update with the "correct" dimscale and see if this fixes things.

thanks, folks, but it's not a dimscale problem.
tried that already. a couple of lads in the office have encountered the same
thing before in the past and no-one has been able to solve it yet.
