What "Text Window" are you referring to?

Tracy,
When a drwing opens there is a window that opens that has autocad text window at the top of it. It has the same information that the lines at the bottom of the screen.

when you press F2 it puts the text window screen behind the drawing screen. I do not know how to dock a window. Is theere a setup that I can fix this. One of the other draftman said that he clicks in the drawing window to get rid of it. But I thought ther was a way so that it did not come up at all

Are there two command areas showing on the screen?

What does it say on the title bar? AutoCAD Text Window - drawing.dwg or
AutoCAD - Command Line - drawing.dwg?

Usually there is one docked at the bottom (default is three lines) and
hitting F2 brings up a resizable text screen (aka: command history or
flip screen) hitting F2 closes it, clicking on the X in the upper
right-hand corner closes it. If there is no X then your command prompt
is floating and you need to click and hold on the blue title bar and
drag it slowly to the bottom of the screen. As soon as you cursor hits
the edge the area will resize (goes wider) let go.

It shaas AutoCad Test Window on the title bar. What I would like to find out is if there is a way that this screen does not come on every time I open a new drawing. At one time it did not come on, but all of a sudden it started coming on every time I opened up a new drawing file.

Dunno?

F2 or 'TEXTSCR makes it appear... maybe you (or someone
