File Open sort Order

How in the world does the sort order of the files in the OPEN dialogue get
reversed? They are sorted, but descending instead of ascending. The layers
are sorted fine. Don't think this a MAXSORT problem. I've seen this once
before and I can't recall the fix. It doesn't matter how the Windows
explorer sort is ordered.

I have users who confirm this problem. True that MAXSORT does not effect it.
Switching to details mode and sorting works for that launch, but does NOT stick
and nobody wants to do that each time. Searched the registry for 'sort'
settings and found none.

Quite an elusive problem that I would love to have an answer for.

Perhaps someone from Autodesk could provide an answer, if they know.

If need be change the file display to Details then pick the Title of the
Files column. This should reverse the order. This also works for File Type
and Date.

For an interim fix, select the title bar where it says "Name" with the left
button. Each time you press it it will reverse the order, same for the other
bars in the dialogs. Also works in the Explorer

Someone said they re-installed acad & fixed it, I've just learned to live with
it.

Isn't that just the Windows Standard for Ascending or Descending Order of
Files? Unless I misunderstand the problem, it is working the way it is
supposed to. You can have your files sorted either way. Someone obviously
accidentally clicked on the Name Box instead of the actual file, and it
switched the Order. Click the name box again, and it will switch again.
Right?

Nope. I just tried that, and clicking the Name box did re-sort the list to
descending. I then opened a drawing so I would cancel the changes. I then
opened another drawing and the list was ascending again, just as it should
be. I should mention that the problem that I originally posted about is
actually happening to a client, not me.

No, it's an acad bug, we went through this a couple months ago & reinstalling
acad was the only workable solution proposed.

I have the same problem, only on one out of eleven machines. I reinstalled Acad
4 times today and it didn't fix the problem!
