AutoCAD Plant 3D

Hi All,

I'm doing a project and creating some pipe specs for a 3d model. The project uses British Flanges. The stock autocad doesn't seem to have those catalogs for me to choose fittings and flanges from. Is there a place where I can get them? If not, what is the best way to create them manually?

The standard I'm trying to use is BS 4504-1:1969 and BS 3799:1974 in particular for flanges and fittings.

Also, I was trying to convert spec files from bentley's autoplant that I have already created. Does Plant3D use parameters stored in a database to create the blocks, or do I have to import them in a special way to get the 3D models working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If the catalogs that are installed with the software don't suffice, you can download more catalogs from the Plant Exchange website, which is located at http://autocad.autodesk.com/?nd=plant_home. Have a look on the right hand side, where it says "Download Content Packs".

If there isn't an already made catalog for you, you can make your own. Some videos are contained here: http://autocad.autodesk.com/?nd=plant_tips_tutorials. When you open a catalog, you'll see a button called "Create New Component". You can use parametric items, or use AutoCAD DWG blocks to make new items.

As for the Autoplant conversions, there is also a mapping section to it, so you may need to map some AutoPlant items to Plant3D items. You can convert the Specs as is, and just see in the end report on what didn't come across and work it out from there.
