P3D Report Creator: how to put 2 materials in the same report

    Hello,

I am working with Plant 3D v2012. I have created a project and started a number of 3D drawings. In the 3D model, I sometimes work with 2 or 3 different pipe specs: sometimes I have to connect AISI304 Stainless Steel Pipes to HDPE pipes by means of collar + flanges.

I use custom made specifications in which I filled in the field for MATERIAL.

In the Spec Editor, I have specified the material in the proper field. I did this for every spec: in my case AISI304 and AISI316.

When I produce a bill of material with the report generator, I select the proper project, than I select the 3D Parts Report Configuraion Settings as supplied by the program and then I select Project Data to have all the materials in the project.

When I look at the preview, I can't see any difference in the material field: when I used 10 meters of pipe using the AISI304 spec and 10 meters of pipe using the AISI316 spec, there is no sign of the 2 different materials. On the report there is a total of 20 meters pipe - material: AISI304.

However, I tried this same issue with another pipe spec I created: WTL_HDPE and here I got a good result.

Can somebody help me to resolve this problem ?

    Thx,

    Marc

    Hi Marc,

I just ran a test report (3D Parts as well) and I'm seeing the data from the "Material Code" property in the "Material" column of the report.

If you edit the report layout you can see this table cell and change it:

    Jason,

Thanks for your reply. However, I tried it out but no result: I created a new Report configuration (in Report Creator) based on the 3D Parts and called it Waterleau.rcf

In my specs I filled in the field Materials so I should see the correct data on my reports. Try this out with 2 different specs: route a pipe DN100 with the WTL_AISI304 spec. Now select the WTL_AISI316 spec and route a pipe DN100.

Now create a report using the standard 3D Parts or Waterleau.rcf Report configuration and you'll see that the 2 lenghts of the pipe are added together and there is only 1 material in the list.

When I use a third spec (WTL_HDPE), I don't have that problem. Probably because I use a complete different naming. And with this spec I can see different material in my report.

    Is there a solution ?

    Marc
