Valve "code" & "number" tags

Can anyone explain to me why the valve "code" and "number" show up sometimes and on some drawings but don't show up on other drawings.  Or maybe when I open a drawing that they weren't showing up on, now they do.  Also, when this last option happens, all my reducer sizes change to my current layer.  And this seems only to happen when my current layer is "rev".  What in the world is happening here?  Is there a way to turn off the "code" and "number"?  Please help!  This is a huge problem.

One other thing is why does the line spec show up under the valve sometimes - in the "code" and "number" area?

Here are some questions that may help in troubleshooting and provide the community some additional info to assist you:

• Which version of AutoCAD Plant 3D are you using?
• If 2014, do you have extension 1 or 2 applied?
• Is this project on a network? Or on your local machine?
• Is this a multi-user project or are you the only one working in it?
• Have you done a local data cache purge lately? If multi-user project, has everyone? 
• With P3D and any Autodesk programs closed, go to Run and browse for the utility PnPLocalDataCachePurger.exe
• Typical  location: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014\PLNT3D\PnPLocalDataCachePurger.exe
• And how about auditing the project? Has that happened recently? Commands for Project Maintenance
• Are you working with out of the box parts or custom parts?
• Is this a migrated project?
• Have you experienced any crashes recently?
• Is this a SQL Server project or SQLite?

I was hired at this company to be the sole drafter/designer/administrator of their plant 3d system.  They sent me to a fundamentals class and that is it.  I have no idea how to administer this program.  Or any program for that matter.  I am a piping designer, not a computer geek.  And yes, they did know this when they hired me but had faith that I could do this.  I cannot find any advanced classes around Denver.  I have found one in Baton Rouge I will probably attend, but in the mean time I am just trying to scrape my way thru.  The fundamentals book doesn't get you far.  I've even bought the Advanced book from Denmark.  So, needless to say, I have no idea about half of your questions.  It is 2014, no idea about extensions.  How would I find that out?  We have 3 stations but only me and another guy use it.  Me mainly.  I did purge the project.  It is on a network.  Another person (who has left the co.) originally set this project up so I think it was originally created (most of the drawings anyways) on 2013 then migrated to 2014.  so some are, some aren't.  We are using out of the box parts - but this is just a P&ID project.

I will print out your suggestions and do what I can.  Thank you for your suggestions.

As far as being new to Autodesk Plant 3D, we’ve all been there. There is a lot to the software and even experienced users are learning or re-learning things all the time. It can be overwhelming at times. I’m sure the community here can empathize. I know I do.

Taking the advanced class sounds like a great idea if that’s an option.

Extension 1 and 2 are available to subscription customers and can be downloaded at  Autodesk subscription

Note too that 'auditing the project' is not the same as the Purge command (not sure if that’s what you meant).

Doing the local data cache purge on those three stations may help.
