Update piping class and refresh pipes already been modeled

Hi,

if i created a pipe line and I need to change the piping class of this line changing the thickness of the pipes, bends and their descriptions, Plant 3D is able to automatically update the line with new thicknesses and descriptions? How is it done?

Thanks.

At the lower right corner of the P3D window there is an icon:

Spec update check

Click on it than the 3D objects will be updated.

Hello Massimo,

Just one additional information to Attila: There are two system varialbes where you can set the behavior of PLANTSPECUPDATECHECK:

  • PLANTSPECNOTIFY: If it is ON, Plant 3D checks for spec file updates when the drawing will be loaded and on the time interval specified by the second system variable below: PLANTSPECNOTIFYTIME
  • PLANTSPECNOTIFYTIME

Yes.

And if you do not want to remember this long command just right click on the icon and click settings.

There you can set up the spec check properly.

Hi,

I have problem regarding specupdatecheck functionality. I had to recalculate pipe & fittings wall thickness.  I made changes to catalogs and specs but I cannot update those changes at 3d model (wall thickness values in long description). When I use specupdatecheck command for the first time, software doesn't see any replacements for existings fittings in spec. When I do it second time I receive information that there is no spec updates available.

The effect is I have different values in long description (later on iso drawings) at 3d model and at spec (see attachment).

The only way i see is to manualy choose all piping elements and change it  to another spec and then return previous one.

Is there any other way to solve this problem? I cannot imagine to redraw entire instalation from scratch.

Hi Dominik

Spec update doesnt work like this, You can update spec for create new parts not existing. When You create new elbow right now You see new value of wall thiknes. If You want change it for all ELBOW in project You should use Data Manager and filter ELBOW, than export to Excel and change it, save and import to Project.(see attachment)

Tam po poprzez filtr kolan, exporcie do Excela zmianie danych i improcie do Projektu wszystkie kolana będą miały nową wartość grubości ścian. (załącznik)
