USER WISH LIST 2013

Lets hope us early birds get the worm next year (or shall I say our wishes)

Not truly a P3D wish but I'm using P3D and SSM (Sheet Set Manager) I would be very nice if the powers to be could see their way and merge the Rename-Renumber tag & properties tag or at least have scroll buttons in the properties tag to allow you to scroll through the different drawings within sheet set instead of having to jump in and out of each individual files properties to just change the revision number.

(yes we do use Sheet set manager instead of the P3D as our jobs also encompass other drawing types - civil, buildings, etc etc)

GO THE ALL BLACKS!!!

Hello!

1. Recommendation for ISO:

To be able to set up the file name format system for the ISO drawings as well(like the source files and the ortho drawings)

The default file name is the pipe line group tag. I want to assign to the file name the isometric drawing number.

2. Recommendation for collecting the pipe insulation:

Put the insulation in a catalogue. This way the pipe insulation will be a part of the pipe spec. The data manager will collect it and calculate a length for it.

On the ISO a new type section will be created ( like INSULATION ) and there will be separate items for each size.

The dimension of the insulation will be meter or inch (like the pipe cut length) and the length is the cut length for a pipe, the centerline length for a fitting and the total length for a valve.

So the insulation will not be only a property but an actual collectable pipe element.

3. Recommendation for pipe supports:

To be able to collect the threaded rod quantity of the suspension hanger and put it in the ISO BOM.

To be able to pick object snap points of a pipe support (not only the node point) to mount the support on a beam.

Thanks in advance!

Attila Vallyon

Hello again!

More recommendations:

1. Put the pipe supports in a Pcat to give more control on them and set up them precisely ( name, dimension, ID, etc...)

And I can put them later in a pipe spec. So the pipe supports will be part of a pipe spec.

2. Create a " Secondary pipe support" class, that way I can make connection between a steel structure or a concrete base and the pipe.

The "Steel structure" class is not enough. I need to create unique steel structures to hold the pipe supports. And these structures are not part of the building or the main structure. And I need to create ID for them and give BOM of them.

Thanks in advance!

File naming format for ISO's can already be done. Have a look inside the XML file, you can add the attributes from the .pcf file and concatenate them for a filename.

Have to agree with Attila...

Having the Pipe Supports fully customizable would be a huge benefit.

If I could add to the list:

- Integration with Vault

- A better integration with Inventor, we would like to have the Inventor Link bi-directional, even via Vault, eg. XRef a mechanical model, which is can be changed by both Inventor and Plant without having to import and export to different formats.

- Better layer management regarding orthos (Layers should be able to be changed without exploding the ortho view in model space)

Hope the P3D gurus come across this thread...

Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far. The schedule for the next release may be different from what you've seen in the past with the plant products. E.g. you might see plant products be release in a timeframe that is more similar to other AutoCAD applications.

However, please continue to give us suggestions and feedback. What doesn't make it into the next release will certainly be considered the one following.

Thanks again, I look forward to seeing many of you at Autodesk University this year.

Hello, this is my wish list:

- Electricity: cable -trays in the catalogs!

- Instrumentation: in the catalogs to add the new category of objects: INSTRUMENTS!

- In catalogs, posibility to create the objects auto-longed... for example if I want to create the square pipe, indicate the section of this element (rectangle) and in the plant create this element with length which I want (like the pipe). With this mode is posible to create the custom structure too (the same mode like in Structural Detailing).

- STRUCTURE: posibility to add new catalogs of structure or migrated from Structural Detailing.

- STRUCTURE: posibility to export and import structure from Plant3D to Structural Detailing for to do the details of connections and to do the calculation with Robot.

- Add Tool Pallet to Ortho mode, with spetial symbols 2D (like in P&ID) to do the Ortho lay-outs.

- Migrate more properties from Plant to Navisworks (for example PID number of objects). With this solution it will posible to link the data base to presentation with all custom properties.

- Resolve the export the Graiting and railings from Plant to NAvisworks (if you open directly the dwg file the railing and graiting don't view correctly, is neccessary to use NWCOUT command)

- The insulation visualization in Navisworks (the same like in the case of railings and graitings)

 Thanks

I think this would be soooooooooo good.

Autocad Plant 3D should be able to xref in Native live Inventor parts (.ipt) and assemblies (.iam) Smiley Happy

ISO's

It would be nice if iso generations instead of overwriting or creating a new drawing did something similar to Orthos where information in model space is replaced with new inforation and data in paperspace is retained

This would allow use of Sheetset Manager & revisions blocks within paperspace to be retained ,also special notes /information can be added to individual drawings in paperspace with out the need to copy information from previous revision drawing or to reenter information on overwiten drawings.

New Iso setup is taking a bit of learning but is looking good.

I'm adding this to the wishlist thread.... see original post here:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Plant-3D/Piping-Plan/m-p/3246882#M4001

Can you please tell me if it is possible to make a piping plan using ortho to display single/double line pipe for various diameters?

AT THE TIME YOU SINCRONIZE CATALOGUES WITH SPECIFICATIONS, IT CHANGES THE NEW DESCRIPTIONS AND/OR VALUES ADDED OR EDITED FROM THE ORIGINAL ONES, YOU CAN ADD A FILTER OF WHAT YOU WANT TO SINCHRONIZE AND CHANGE.

THERE IS NO WAY OF COPYING SPECIFIC ELEMENTS FROM ONE SPEC TO ANOTHER AND WHEN YOU WANT TO ADD IT FROM EXCEL IT CAUSES PROBLEMS ILUMINATING CHANGES.

THERE IS NO WAY OF MAKING A NEW CATALOGUE, AND NEITHER A WAY OF COPYING ELEMENTS FROM ONE TO ANOTHER, IN ORDER TO MANAGE YOUR CATALOGUES AS YOU PREFER.

SOMETIMES WHEN YOU ASSIGN A NOMINAL DIAMETER LIKE 1-1/2" THE SYSTEM TAKES 1/2" AS THE SERVICE AND THE REST OF THE VALUES ARE CHANGED, I THINK THE SYSTEM DIVIDES IT BECAUSE OF THE HYPHEN.

- Link diferents block to elements for each ortho view (the same as in REVIT or MEP). Now the objects have only ISO simbol, but for ortho isn't it. For example, for stairs, gratings, valves...

- Iso views in ortho.

-View hide pipes (when one pipe is upper than other) in ortho (but with diferent type of line).

- Better  P&ID Line List (in the 3D modeling), for example if one valve is inserted in the 3D from P&ID, in the list this valve will be marked. Because now is posible to insert two same valves.

- The syncron components 3D with Spec (now this option doesn't work! Only update in one drawing, and in the others say that the spec is allready update, and after updating in the first drawing don't ajust the connection points).

- Direct syncronization P&ID with Plant3D in both direction. After to add any propertie with any value in Plant3D the program need to add the same propertie with the value to the same object in the P&ID.

- List of equipment to insert in the Plant3D from P&ID (the same as Line list P&ID).

- Real selection from Data Manager, if is used "magnifying glass" in the first column of data manager the selection is not real, because if click the right botton of mouse is not posible to access to properties. In my case there are one valve in data manager but in the 3D model I couldn't find it, is lost fisical block and is not visible, but in the data base there is.

1) Legend for P&ID drawings

2) "P&ID Equipment List" similar like "P&ID Line List"

3) BOM for ORTHO drawing

4) Validation in 2012 version doesnt work corect, dont see error for situation when in P&ID we have 10 tanks, in Plant 3D we have 8 tanks, this is no problem for validation this is huge mistake

5) More plastic parts catalogs

6) Like someone says before when we take valves or pipe from "P&ID Line List" we dont have any information when we take the compnent again, i recomanded in next versions change the color or something information like "This valve is used in P3D now"

7) Pipe Support Editor, make we create new support like we create new equipment

😎 Two way connection beetwen AutoCAD Plant 3D and Inventor

9) Automatic upload specyfication from P&ID to Plant 3D, for example if we change diameter in P&ID from 100mm to 200mm Plant 3D automaticly changed this pipe

10) Simple generator from Steel Structure, or raport generator for steel structure for example lenght of Member etc.

in this time thats all

have <sheet views> in the Sheet set manager compatible with P3D Drawings.

I love the sheet set manager, and it is so bloody annoying trying to 'fix' the ortho's.....

There needs to be a much easier way to report program bugs.I'm not talking about not understanding the process, but things that just flat-out don't perform as they should.

They should be a force connect option. So if a pipe is within a mm of another pipe you should be able to force the connection. Currently I am getting frustrated over the fact that my measurements are within .01 mm and maybe off by half a degree due to some slope piping but I can not get a connection.
