To route inclind line on tank roof

Hi I am modeling piping layout of tank area. Tank roof is at at angle of 27 deg. I want to run a line parallel to tank roof from tanks's pheriphery to tank's center, say at an offset of 200 mm from tank roof. Being a non-regular angle, miter bend is to be provided at both ends. Ae per my knowledge, it is not possible to model miter bend or to provide welded pipe to pipe joint at some angle, please correct me if I am wrong. I tried to model it by following two ways, but I did not succeed. 1) I tried to draw a POLY LINE (horizontal line followed by inclind line followed by vertical line) and converted it to pipe using LINE TO PIPE command. But this creates lines which are not connected with each other. 2) I have drawn horizontal and vertical line at both end of inclide line first. Than I tried to connect these two open pipes but Autoroute did not suggested any direct point to point route. It adds some horizontal and vertical let to connect these two points. Is there any setting required to use direct point to point connection in Autoroute? Kinldy assist me to draw a line at an angle. Regards Kandarp

Do you have cutback elbows turned on?

How does it help?

From the help file:

Cutbackelbow

Toggles cutback mode. If cutback mode is on, you can specify an angle that is less than the angle of the elbow you are adding. If cutback mode is off (the default), specify an angle to match the elbow. Only fittings that have Plain or Beveled end types can be cutback.

If you draw a 3DPolyline, you can convert the 3DPolyline to pipe, and it'll cut the elbows to suit also.

Hi there,

Thanks for quick reply from all.

Actually I was modelling 1"NB Line where socket weld bends where used. Hence cut back elbow was not useful to me. However after few try, I come to know about toggle bend option which generated pipe bend for non standard angles while converting 3D Poly line to pipe using "Pipe to Line" command.

Finally I have model with line inclined in 3D. I have attached file which shows inclind line on top of tank at angle in two plan.

Thanks a lot for prompt reply again.
