Spectacle Blind Thickness

I just discovered that the thickness of the 600LB spectacle blinds in the ASME Catalogue is not per ASME B16.48. Is this a known problem? Has the Catalog been updated? I am using Plant3D ext. 2.

I'll check to make sure our development team has this on their radar. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi,

In my observation, the Spectacle Blind flanges (600LB, RF) have the flange thickness as per ASME B16.48, Table A-3 added with twice the raised face thickness (i.e. 0.25in) as per ANSI B16.5 Clause 6.4.1. Also the Spectacle blind flanges (600LB, RTJ) have the flange thickness as per ASME B16.48 Table A-9.

Can you please provide some more specific details, if you still find it wrong?

Thanks

Vasu

In practice 600# RF line blinds do not come with the 1/4" raised portion on both sides. ASME B16.48 does not require the raised surfaces but, states they "may be specified at the option of the purchaser". Having the raised faces is not the standard but, simply an option.
