Selection Filter

How, if at all can someone select multiple types of objects and filter everything out but the pipe of that said selection. I do not see a way of doing this. And if you can not filter objects by their "family", then shame on you Autodesk.

I am not sure I understand the question completely but have you tried
QSELECT? It should allow you to select and de-select using different
criteria.
