Hi all, I find in my subscription centre that Plant3d 2014 extension is released. Find many improvements there in Isometric. Thanks developers.

Thanks Arun for your valuable feedback. I will pass them internally. You can also see all the new features in the following link,

So whats the process for installing Extension 1 to an existing 2014 project?

Do all you have to do is install the extension, start up an existing project and you'll get all the new features? Or is there a migration that you have to do to the existing project?  For example 2013 to 2014 projects.

Thanks!

no migration needed
once installed you can use on your current 2014 project

I made an Ortho BOM on an existing project with no problem.

The associative dims has me stumped though.

We're tracking down a problem with Ortho BOM on existing projects. One of us will post when we have an answer.

The thing with assoc dimensions is not with our Ortho functionality. When you update an ortho, it essentially recreates all of the graphics so it would difficult to do something that emulates assoc dimensions.

What was done for Ext 1 was to fix a problem that was not allowing assoc dimensions to work on piping components. Some customers don't use our ortho functionality and instead just use paperspace viewports. Assoc dimensions now work for piping, equipment, and most structure components in either model or paper space.

In Structural Detailing there are auto dimension function and the dimensions are autoupdates in ortho views, is not possible to copy this existing technology?

It's very good options are availe in that extension pack. I hope that soon we can see any additional options for join P&ID with 3D. For example, mark in P&ID line list inserted in 3d objects, or check the order of elements inserted in line 3d....

Thank you

Does anybody have problems after installing the plant extension?

Because my plant 3d seem to be corrupted after installing.

First i cant find my raster tab in the ribbon anymore. I cant do autorouting and the pipe cant connect to form a tee branch in my existing project.

Anybody facing this problem with the extension.

The only thing I have found so far is that the PLANTMODIFYSHAREDCONTENTFOLDER had to be reset to to what I had it set to previously, which was a network drive.  It defaulted back to the local folder for shared content.

I find a issue in weight for fittings. The weight comes as a unit weight, the software doesn't multiply with the quantity. For pipes, it comes property, the unitweight multiplies with the quantity. What to make the weight of fitting to get multiply with the quantity?

BOM on Ortho issue.

There is a new note in the readme that describes the workaround -

  • If you attempt to create an Ortho BOM in a metric project that was created before Extension 1 was installed, you may get a message: Failed to load configuration.... To work around this problem copy OrthoBOMConfigMetric.xml from C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014\PLNT3D\en-US\OrthoProjectTemplates\Imperial\Default to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014\PLNT3D\en-US\OrthoProjectTemplates\Metric\Default.

Don't you have performance issues when the shared content is on the network?

When we had it set up that way, switching projects took about 1,5 min and swithcing specs also took about 10-20 seconds.

The issue was resolved when the shared content was placed locally. We now synchronise the network content folder daily to the users local drive as a workaround.

Message 20 of 21

Yes, there are performance issues but we are testing some workarounds.  We may end up doing what you are doing but I am not willing to concede too quickly.
