Plant 3D ortho's and Civil 3D link

Hi,

I do both Civil and mechanical design for various projects, i am looking to use my Civil 3D data dynamically in Plant 3D or visa versa.

Examples during the Plant 3D ortho creation use the Civil 3D surface profile data dynamically.

or

use my plant 3D ortho dynamically in Civil 3D.

Has any had any experience or know of anyone.?

Regards Ken Foyster

I am not sure what you mean by dynamic link.

AFAIK, there is no linkage between the two.
What I do is export my piping model to Civil 3D from Plant.

Civil 3D do have pressure piping, but it is not spec driven.
I normally use Civil 3D alignment to start for Plant Piping.
It is not bad in term of getting proper Northing, Easting, Location.

I have tried to import Civil 3D into Plant for Ortho drawing.
Plant can't even handle simple surface.

As both products are AutoCAD verticals, installing the appropriate object enabler should allow content from one program to show properly in the other, typically via XREF.  However each program is still needed for manipulating their respective objects.
