Pipe Supports

its quite difficult to insert a support on the exact location that i want. ive tried point filters to locate the point on the beam as my referenced.
and it doesnt work. any ideas for support precission insertion? or is it DDD again. something like for the piping components
DRAG, DROP & DRAG ( DRAG a component from spec pallete, DROP on the pipe, one placed, DRAG again for the final location)

and also, the pipe slide/anchor type support which is basically a shoe and a guide (hold down type). is being modeled and having a tag as one.
a lot of projects that i worked with, these two is being tagged and modeled seperately, meaning two MTO items will come out on BOM. ( 1 shoe, 1 guide).

i see that AP3D can do the shoe without guide, but Guide (hold down type) cannot be modeled without the shoe (is it? or i just miss something?)

Anyways, how does the software handle this?

You can convert object to supports, your guides using PlantPipeSupportConvert. ensure that you loacate the objects in proper position prior to the convertion and that the supports "node" snaps are in the same postion. Once complete the iso will show 2 items in the same location. Note it helps to be in shade mode when choosing the inser point on the pipe.

I have another question regarding pipe supports, is it possible to have a list of pipe supports including their Tag no. and dimensional properties. I couldn't find any information about pipe supports in Data Manager.

i dont know what im missing here but i didnt get it. the 3d solid was converted to a support but it didnt show up on my iso.

for converted support, what type of support symbol its going to use in the isometric? can the user define his symbol?
and where can i access this?

the best way to see this in Data manager is to switch the view in Project Setup to "object type" instead of "area'

go to project setup - comand _PROJECTSETUP
got to Plant 3D DWG Setting>Data Manager Setup
on the top of the page pick the "Object Type" bullit then OK to close project setup

in data manager now you can see the object class names including supports. This will show all the data assosiated to supports (this also can be adjusted in project setup).

note not all the dimensional data will appear in datamanager
