PID to P3D napping of custom valves

In my current Plant3D 2012 project only custom valves are used. Both PID and 3D symbols for these are defined. When I attempt to map a PID object to a 3D object the valve subtypes that are displayed as available for mapping to do not include any of my custom valves but only a set of default valves delivered in the Plant3D package.

I see that the mapping information is held in a project file named PIDTo3dClassMapping.xml. Is editing this file possible? If so, what do I need to do to get my custom valves mapped?

Doesn't look like this was answered back for 2012. I am doing the same thing now in 2018. Is there a way to map our custom valves from the P&ID? This will allow the use of P&ID line list in order to place the valve.

Hi,

I authored this white paper some time ago. It should explain how the mapping works...
