Ortho drawing - all piping shown as hidden

Hi,

I have been creating ortho drawings of my models without problem for a while now, until today...

When creating a new view, I select the 3D model I want to include, and then stretch the ortho selection cube to include only the area I want to view, however when the view ‘plots’, the ortho selection cube is plotted and all the pipework within is shown as hidden as shown in the attached image.

The layer manager shows correct layers with colours and linetypes being created as shown below:

If I select a pipe component and look at it’s properties, then it appears to be on the correct layer with the correct colour and linetype as shown below, but is not displaying correctly

If when creating the view I choose not to display any hidden lines, then all I see is the ortho selection cube.

The same problem occurs when I try creating an adjacent view of an existing view if I stretch the ortho selection cube. If I do not touch the ortho selection cube then the adjacent view plots fine.

Any ideas or fixes would be appreciated as we have contractors on site waiting for drawings. Thanks.

In your model if you have changed the properties status to Existing, then when the Ortho view is created it generates the ortho model with hidden lines. If you want continuous lines in your created ortho view, then you will need to set the status to either New or Demolition.

Hi Quentin,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that is not the problem. All my piping is set to 'New'. I have just tried to set up a new view, and now the piping is showing both as hidden and solid as if there are two copies, even though  I have set the option not to display any hidden lines. The pipe supports are not showing hidden lines though as can be seen in the screenshot below:

Solid and Hidden piping - New.PNG

The selection cube is also displaying in the view, which I think is causing my pipes within the selection cube to be shown as hidden.

Thanks for your suggestion but I think this may be program error.

I just want to check back to see if you were able to resolve the issue?

Did you perhaps try to start a new Plant 3D drawing and then open the exisiting model.

Then copy clip the model and paste it in the new drawing. Then try to run the Orthos again asn see if the issue had been resolved.

There might have been a setting change in the existing model or the drawing might have been corrupted. By pasting the model in a new drawing you would be starting fresh again with original settings and a clean model.

Let me know if you still need assitance with this.

Hi Quentin,

No I have not tried your proposed solution as I have since moved on to other areas of the project and issued the 'problem' area with the views that had generated up to the point that the problem surfaced. When I get a chance I will go back and try your proposed solution and report back.

Thanks for your interest.

Regards

Gavin
